Any Call to Adventure that makes us step outside of our comfort zone to achieve a goal or outcome is usually preceded by a wake up call that can only be ignored at our own peril.
One of the greatest Hero Journey’s that I can think of in modern times is that of Mahatma Gandhi. He returned to India to lead a nation to Independence using the route of Non-Violence.
We all experience Wakeup Calls at different stages of our lives that prompt us to start on our personal journey to change the status quo.
In other words, we answer or accept our Call to Adventure.
By the end of our journey, we are transformed by our experience and sometimes even inspire others to go after their dreams because our story shows them that it can be done.

This self-coaching guide has its origins in the monthly coaching tele-class I used to hold for my subscribers. The topic for October 2015 was wake up calls and transforming our lives. It was actually facilitated on October 2nd, which is Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.
Gandhiji is a prime example of how a wakeup call can benefit not only the individual but bring about a change in the lives and destiny of others.
Feedback from one of the participants inspired me to convert the call into a self-coaching guide. I want to share with others the fact that John Campbell’s monomyth is universal and not the domain of only fairy tales and folklore.
