Perhaps the Aol email is a longtime one and your friend might have linked it to other accounts and hence the hesitation to change it, Teressa. Good practice of emails for professional purposes is always a domain email or if one is a career professional and doesn't have a domain registered in their name is definitely Gmail. Thanks for sharing your insights!

Hello Vatsala,

It always amusing to hear/read someone say/write a playful name @_ _ _.com, lol. I hesitate if anyone shares such names in a professional setting. Would you believe me if I told you a friend of mines is still on aol? Sometimes she becomes stubborn when you suggest anything to her as she feels she is always right (most of the time).

I typically use my email teressa@amitzamedia.com for my subscribers and amitzamedia@gmail.com or my first and last name at gmail.com for everything else. Gmail is definitely the most recommended in my opinion because I have the capability of access various professional applications that are associated with gmail such as google docs and google drive.

Real grownup email address - I love it Latrelle! As a business owner it shows you mean business and of course, having your domain email address also adds to your credibility.

I so agree - your email is very important when it comes to your brand. I used Gmail, but it wasn't until I up-leveled into my own email address, in conjunction with my web site, that I really felt things starting to gel.

I joked that I finally had a real grown up email address - haha!

Great post - those details are important :)
