Thanks for sharing your perspective and wisdom with us, Beverley. You are absolutely right when you say that once we know ourselves, we have the opportunity to change whatever isn't working. It helps to take stock every now and then of our goals and progress and whether our activities are still aligned with our big vision and change what needs to be changed. We often have an in-built system that lets us know when we are on the hamster wheel and knowing the triggers is a good way to realize it.

Engaging on social media and spending time online promoting a business can feel like being on a hamster-wheel sometimes, Roslyn. Since you are already reaching Step 2, now is the time to take stock of all activities and check if they are still fulfilling the purpose or are encroaching on time that you need for creative activities which are being sidelined. Sometimes we have already made a lot of progress with a goal but don't realize it and feel we are stuck when all that is required is to reassess the goal and work out a new action plan. Best of luck with your new strategy!

As someone who is project oriented and likes to get things done, recent experiences indicate I am on the hamster wheel & only some things are ever done. I think doing social media does this to me with creeativity taking a back sit and the feeling I'm working dominates. Will look at this some more. Thanks for food for thought.

I think often people stay in their comfort zone whether it serves them or not. It is scary to dare to change for many people. I honestly find the online world, the ultimate hamster wheel for me, which is why I much prefer to be in the real world, meeting and having conversations about projects I am interested in. Some people are more comfortable taking risks than others and I think once someone recognizes they are on the hamster wheel, then they can take stock and take actions that help them to shift direction or focus, which ultimately leads to a feeling of renewal and hopefully excitement again. For me, the time of year is such a predictor of how inspired and how energized I feel. When there is no sun, life is much more challenging for me to stay motivated. Once we know ourselves, we have the opportunity to change whatever isn't working. Thanks for the steps Vatsala and the valuable information!

Accepting that you have the tendency to climb aboard the Hamster-Wheel is the first step to self-management and getting off it asap, Tamuria. We're all works-in-progress and we do get there in the end. :) I'm delighted the Goal Achievement Simplified book has helped you. That was the intention for the reader benefit when I wrote it. Mission accomplished!

I so often find myself on the hamster wheel Vatsala and have to stop myself and take stock. I tend to put blinders on with new projects and then my life becomes a bit unbalanced.I am constantly working on this and have found the tips in your book, Goal Achievement Simplified, have been a big help. The point you made about how you can end up spending so much time on social media with small returns was so true and mentioning the SMART goals to get you back on track was great.
