Such stories are horrifying and it always seems it takes too long for justice to take place. I find it troubling that even as all of our societies advance, there is still this male sense of entitlement towards women and that they can rationalize their behavior by saying she asked for it or deserved it. We need to continue to speak out and support legislation to protect women and children. Thank you Vatsala for providing an update on this story and reminding us of the details.

In reply to Marquita Herald. It's been a heavy price to pay for required reforms, Marquita. The Juvenile Justice system too has been reformed where teenagers will be treated as adults if the crime merits it. Similar to the changes that happened after the murder of 3 year old James Bulger in UK.

It’s hard to understand how people can do the things they do to each other, and yet the news includes at least a few stories each day about people displaying the most despicable behavior. As others have said, I’m glad that there have been some positive changes come from this sad event.
