This is great! I need to communicate dissatisfaction with a couple of jobs done to a member of my BNI networking group, and this gave me some good tips in how to approach it!
Thanks!

In reply to <a href="https://karmicallycoaching.com/how-to-bring-out-the-best-in-reporting-colleagues/#comment-1849">Tamuria</a>.

Thanks Tamuria. One of the many reasons why professional and personal relationships get strained is because people don't take the time to observe or get to know each other. As a Manager and supervisor, I always found that giving specific instances to the reporting colleague helped to get a dialogue started and an opportunity for the other person to either take steps to improve themselves or at least explain the situation. Corporate politics can get very messy and I preferred to be out of it rather than stoke the flames. :)

I think these tips are great for all relationships.Speak less, listen more is so important for anyone who really cares about understanding why people do what they do.The way you helped that team member was so good and really paid off. It is so important to recognise the good people do and to be specific if there are complaints about their work.
